CivicMedia/MN, is a local non profit created to bring local affairs to local people and educate them about the many faces of public governance. Its main purpose is to engage citizens and students in understanding issues of governance and public policy, critiquing media coverage of critical policy matters, encouraging public discourse and taking collective action to resolve problems.
Founded in June 2007 by a small group of concerned citizens and journalists -under the leadership of its current Executive Director, Mr. Andy Driscoll- who saw the need of a local nonprofit devoted to educate local people on the issues that affect them, while filling the need for local information not covered by other media outlets.
The organizing mission of CivicMedia/Minnesota (CMM) is to call on all available resources to bring full discussion with multiple perspectives to state, local, and regional issues to ever-widening audiences in the belief that such coverage will encourage and empower citizen and community action and involvement toward resolving issues while increasing the overall level of citizen and student engagement in self-governance and self-determination inside and outside Metro Area cultures and underserved subcultures, many of which no other local outlets currently or adequately cover.
CMM produces radio, television, and Internet programming at the local and regional level where daily life meets public policy and strives to teach others in the responsible use of media.
